The Old Rectory is located 3 miles from the ancient market town of
Oswestry on the edge of the picturesque border village of Selattyn,
with its ancient church, village pub and school.
The many attractions in Oswestry include the nationally significant Iron Age Hill Fort and the renowned British Ironworks Centre, as well as the popular family attraction at Park Hall Farm.
It is a perfect base for visiting the nearby Roman City of Chester or
the historic town of Shrewsbury and the area’s several museums, as well
as the National Trust properties of Chirk Castle, Erddig, Powys Castle,
Attingham Park & Sunnycroft.
There are many unspoilt beauty spots nearby such as the meres at
Ellesmere, Llanrhaeadr waterfall, Lake Vyrnwy, the Berwyns, the Ceiriog
Valley and Llangollen.
It is less than 2 miles from Offa’s Dyke long distance footpath and
provides a perfect centre for walking. A leaflet describes 7 circular
walks from the cottage.
